Become a Friendly Visitor
Friendly Visitors provide compassion to someone less fortunate. Visits are made to clients who are typically frail, elderly or have a disability. Many MonarchCare clients are alone or isolated and in need of the social contact you will provide as a Friendly Visitor. Anything that might be of interest to the individual is a perfect activity during your client visit, such as reading, talking, walking, sharing a hobby, watching TV/movies/sports, listening to music. Flexibility is a key component of being a Friendly Visitors, as visits can take place any time or day of the week. Friendly Visitors receive orientation, training and work together with our professional Care Managers.
Community Educator - Helping us to Serve those in Need
One of the easiest ways to help us serve those in need is by spreading the word. You can help us build our presence on the social media channels by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter and LinkedIn. Many individuals in our community struggle with family members or neighbors who need help and do not know where to turn. You can help raise awareness for MonarchCare by manning a table at a community health fair or distributing MonarchCare literature to doctors’ offices and other public information centers in your community. In addition, you can help by reaching out to organizations like Kiwanis, Rotary, civic, community and religious groups and schedule a guest speaker from MonarchCare. With your assistance and advocacy in the community we will no longer be South Florida’s best kept secret.
Assure Those with No Resources are not Forgotten
News stories continue to report of the exploitation, abuse, and neglect of our elders and vulnerable citizens who have no one in their life to assure their safety. Each year MonarchCare must raise close to $200,000 to serve our pro-bono clients who need our services to assure they are safe, feel supported and can function at their highest level. You and your friends can share your talents by assisting with fundraising activities and other events held during the year. You will work with our Staff, Board Members, and other volunteers on our Fundraising Task Forces and meet new individuals who are also passionate about our mission.
Work Behind the Scenes – Office and Financial Assistance
Office Volunteers are important assets to MonarchCare, performing clerical and administrative tasks that are so important. Tasks include general office work and helping our professional staff with completion of documentation and work flow processes such as data entry, answering phones, filing, scanning and more. Financial Service volunteers help with both client and MonarchCare daily money management tasks. The efficient completion of these tasks allows us to devote our time to the needs of our clients to assure they remain well taken care of and safe.
Board of Directors and Board Committees
Support the governance of MonarchCare by serving on our Board Committees. MonarchCare is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors representing corporate, professional, and community-based organizations. Individual members are selected for their leadership abilities, talent, experience, and dedication. There are active Finance, Governance and Development Committees with Ad Hoc Committees established as needed. In addition there is a Trust Advisory Committee to review client records and assess appropriate new trust cases.
